Forgiveness is a daily act in my life. I have expectations of myself. If I were brave all the time - I would live out a much different kind of life. But other factors come into play. We're only human after-all. We've all been hurt and felt like our needs aren't being met.
Patience and endurance are other daily practices of mine. There can be a wellspring of joy and treasure on the other side of every struggle.
As we live each day of our lives and we do the very best that we can - we shouldn't give up on ourselves. Sometimes the progress you are hoping for is being made but you just can't see it yet. If you keep breathing, keeping moving - it will appear. Be willing to flow, to move...be like water and allow yourself to shift perceptions. Don't hold too strongly onto any one idea or perception.
Forgive yourself for not living up to expectations. Your soul knows what it needs.

I am not always sure that I do the best that I can, but I do so desire to meet or exceed my standards. A certain amount of flexibility in my life allows me to hit the reset button and try again, rather than falling into terminal despair. A good sense of humor. Self-forgiveness. Accepting that which I cannot change. Help me to bend in the storms instead of snapping. I like the Taoist reference to "being like water." There is much wisdom in the Tao.
ReplyDeleteI believe we are all doing the best we can with where we are in the moment mentally, emotionally and spiritually. If we were TRULY feeling empowered and able to do something on all levels then we would do it without struggle. That's my perception of it.
DeleteI definitely agree with all of that and the wisdom of the Tao. How grateful I am that we have those sort of resources to take wisdom from.
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change.
The courage to change the things I can.
And the wisdom to know the difference.
